Pomeranian of the Sabores
Blog from our social media series "Wednesday breaks up the week so nicely" Tip 24:
visit the botanical garden in Tavira, Eastern Algarve.
Less than 5 kilometers from our Guesthouse-Moncarapacho lies the beautiful Orchard of Flavours.
This botanical and edible garden features a wide variety of fruit trees and edible plants from warm climates around the world.
We visited this garden twice. The first time was on one of the hottest days of the year. We had a two hour tour with a group organized by Rotary International.
We were both immediately enthusiastic about this experimental edible garden. The enthusiastic volunteers passionately showed what they are doing and what their goal is.
What appeals to us is that they are looking at which edible trees and plants function well in our Mediterranean climate with less and less water.
They experiment with these different types of fruit trees and share their knowledge, also online on their website.
Last November we participated in a one day workshop “Irrigation&Water and Saving&Harvesting. So interesting for the young Mediterranean garden of our Guesthouse.
The Orchard of Flavours between Moncarapacho and Tavira can only be visited by appointment via their website , both a private tour and a guided tour are possible. It is worth it🍌🍋🍓
