We had a wonderful week at Guesthouse Moncarapacho.

The studio where we stayed was beautifully decorated and equipped with all the amenities. The pool was lovely and we enjoyed the surroundings. The coast and islands off the coast are nice to explore, as well as the towns and villages in East Algarve.

The weather was very pleasant at the end of September, between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius. In short, we had a great time! Maarten and Celine are particularly welcoming hosts, everything was top-notch.

I hope everything is going well with you.

Best regards, Saskia and Frank

Dear Maarten and Celine,

We're doing great. After returning, we got back to work, and before you know it, you'll be right back in the rhythm of daily life.

We had a wonderful stay at Guesthouse Moncarapacho. The village is nicely central, and the guesthouse itself is spacious, making it a great base for exploring the surroundings. The apartment was comfortable and fully equipped.

There's plenty to do in the area. We found the beaches in the Ria Formosa – such as Santa Luzia and Cacela Velha – very nice. The Seven Hanging Valleys Trail is also a beautiful hike, and the viewpoint on Cerro da Cabeça is definitely worth it. The olive oil tour at Monte Rosa was a surprisingly fun activity.

There's plenty of choice when it comes to restaurants: from luxury dinners at Bosso in Tavira to simple but delicious chicken piri piri at Frango da Ria near Olhão. The welcome package in the apartment was a nice surprise, making us feel right at home.

All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Guesthouse Moncarapacho – a beautiful place with a welcoming atmosphere and plenty of opportunities to explore the surroundings. Highly recommended!

"We had a fantastic stay at your guesthouse. The welcome was top-notch, and you're both very warm and friendly hosts. We enjoyed our nice conversations. The accommodation was spotless, almost new, and everything worked perfectly. The only thing that might have been missing were some hooks for the towels.

The personal touch you prepared for our little boy was very thoughtful, and he was thrilled with it. Of course, the breakfast was also delicious and extremely extensive!

The surroundings are very beautiful there. The beaches are easily accessible and quickly reached, and taking the ferry to the nearby islands is also very accessible and a must-see.

The pool was also top-notch, nice and large, and with the salty water, it's even more pleasant than with chlorine. The garden was still in development during this new phase but will surely be beautiful! We definitely want to stay here again.

Best regards, Lai Jin and Max

Hi Celina and Maarten,

We'd like to thank you for the wonderful stay at your guesthouse. We had a great time exploring the area, and we're so grateful for the warm welcome.

The studio was lovely, with a beautiful view of the ocean. We enjoyed the pool and the garden, and the location was perfect for us.

We rented bikes in Moncarapacho and cycled to Tavira along the EVO 1 bike route, mainly through the Ria Formosa. We saw flamingos and other birds right at the beginning of the route. Tavira is a lovely town with shops, restaurants, and a castle with a beautiful garden where you can walk freely.

We also cycled to Faro along the EVO 1 bike route but had to find an alternative route when it ended. What struck me as particularly special was that there are Wadden Islands off the coast, part of the Ria Formosa, where you can take a ferry or go on a boat tour.

We took the ferry from Olhão to Culatra and walked through the charming fishing village with restaurants to the beach. We then walked along the beach to Farol, had some food there, and spent a few hours relaxing on the beach before taking the ferry back to Olhão.

Olhao is also a lovely town with narrow streets lined with Portuguese houses, and the large covered fish, vegetable, and fruit market is right on the boulevard.

We took the ferry from Fuseta to Armona and walked along the beach to the long stretch of Ohla da Armona, where we had lunch and relaxed on the beach before walking back. This was a total of 16 km.

You can walk to Praia do Barril, which is about 9 km from the guesthouse, or take the train to the Atlantic Ocean beach. We then had inkfish in Santa Luzia.

The islands, Ohla da Tavirs and Ohla de Faro, which you also have to take a ferry to, seem beautiful too.

On Saturdays, there's a large covered and uncovered fish, vegetable, and fruit market in Loulé, a lovely town inland.

We drove back through small Portuguese villages and had lunch at a restaurant where mostly locals eat. In Moncarapacho, you have nice restaurants and squares.

We took a tour on the wine estate Quinta da Tor, where we also had a wonderful wine tasting with delicious snacks and a beautiful pool.

Since the pool of Celina and Maarten was still not finished in June 2025 and it was very hot, we went to a restaurant with a pool three times in Fuseta, Ria Panoramiqua, which was very nice and had a great view over the Ria Formosa to the Atlantic Ocean.

From the studio Casa Florine, you can see the Atlantic Ocean from the terrace, which is very special. The studio is tastefully decorated, and the first necessities were available for us, including a bottle of wine 🥂. Our bed was regularly cleaned 😀.

It's handy to have a car, hopefully we'll come back another time when the pool and garden are completely finished.

Best regards, Remco & Gertrude
