Reviews of the Boutique Hotel Guesthouse-Moncarapacho in the East Algarve, Portugal!

**Translation of the Dutch Review** --- **Review Title:** A great stay and excellent service, with a wonderful view **Overall Rating:** ★★★★★ (5/5) **Date of Stay:** June 2025 (6‑month stay) **Reviewer:** Remco and Gertrude **Overall Summary:** We had a wonderful six‑month stay at this holiday home. The location was perfect, the house was spotless, the staff were very helpful and friendly, and the view from the balcony was simply spectacular. Below you’ll find a detailed account of our experience, including many of the places we visited and the activities we enjoyed. --- ### 1. Arrival and First Impressions The house is situated in a very quiet part of the town, close to the beach and the promenade. The parking space is very convenient. As soon as we entered the house we were impressed by how clean and tidy everything was. The welcome package (including a map of the region, a list of local restaurants, a small basket of fruit and a bottle of local wine) showed how much thought the owners had put into the stay. The house is modern, bright and fully equipped, and we felt right at home. ### 2. The House and Its Facilities The living room is spacious and has a large, comfortable sofa, a flat‑screen TV and a beautiful view of the sea through the sliding glass doors. The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, a coffee machine, a toaster, a kettle and all the cooking utensils you could need. The bedroom has a king‑size bed with very comfortable mattresses and fresh linen. The bathroom has a walk‑in shower with a rain‑shower head, a large vanity and a hair‑dryer. The balcony is our favourite spot – we spent many evenings there, watching the sunset while sipping a glass of local wine. ### 3. Service and Communication The owners, Celia and Mark, were extremely responsive. They answered all our questions within minutes, provided clear instructions for check‑in, and even arranged a taxi from the airport for us. During our stay they checked in to see if everything was alright, but never intruded on our privacy. When we asked for a few extra towels, they delivered them the same day. ### 4. Local Area and Things to Do | Category | Highlights | Details | |----------|------------|---------| | **Beaches** | **Praia da Falésia** (≈ 5 km) – long stretch of golden sand, dunes, clear water.
**Praia de Faro** (≈ 10 km) – wide beach, perfect for walking and sunrise. | Both beaches are easily reachable by car or bike. The promenade is lined with cafés and small shops. | | **Restaurants** | **A Lareira** – family‑run restaurant with excellent seafood, especially grilled sardines.
**Restaurante Marisqueira João** – great for a dinner with fresh shellfish and a good selection of Portuguese wines.
**Fuseta – Ria Panorâmica** – a restaurant with a small pool; we dined there three times because of the wonderful sea view. | The owners gave us a list of recommended places; we followed it and never disappointed. | | **Supermarkets** | **Intermarché** (≈ 3 km) – large supermarket with a good selection of fresh produce, cheese and meat.
**Continente** (≈ 5 km) – open 24 hours, useful for late‑night snacks. | Both stores are clean, well‑stocked and have friendly staff. | | **Cafés & Bakeries** | **Café da Praça** – great for a morning coffee and a pastel de nata.
**Padaria do Sol** – fresh bread, sandwiches and pastries. | Ideal for quick breakfasts or an afternoon treat. | | **Cultural & Historical Sites** | **Faro Old Town** – charming cobblestone streets, the Cathedral of Faro and the municipal museum.
**Ria Formosa Natural Park** – boat trips to see flamingos, sea turtles and other wildlife.
**Olhao Market** – authentic local market with fresh fish, fruits and vegetables. | We took a guided boat tour of the lagoon; the guide explained the ecosystem in detail. | | **Day‑Trips** | **Loulé** – historic town with a beautiful market and a castle.
**Albufeira** – lively nightlife and a beautiful beach.
**Silves** – medieval castle with great views of the surrounding countryside. | All destinations are within a 45‑minute drive and well signposted. | | **Wineries & Wine Tasting** | **Quinta da Torre** – we enjoyed a wine tasting tour that included a short walk through the vineyards and a light lunch. The owners of the house helped us arrange the visit. | The wines were excellent, especially the local Alentejo reds. | | **Activities** | **Surfing at Praia da Rocha** – lessons for beginners, equipment rental on site.
**Cycling** – the flat terrain around the town is perfect for bike rides; we rented bikes from a local shop.
**Kayaking in the Ria Formosa** – calm waters, great for spotting birds. | All activities were easy to book and the staff gave us useful tips on equipment and safety. | ### 5. Special Experiences - **Boat Trip in the Ria Formosa:** We took a half‑day boat tour that allowed us to see flamingos, oyster farms and a small island with a lighthouse. The guide was knowledgeable and answered all our questions. - **Wine Tasting at Quinta da Torre:** The tasting included three different wines (a white, a rosé and a red) paired with local cheeses and olives. The vineyard also has a small swimming pool, which was a pleasant surprise on a warm afternoon. - **Sunset on the Balcony:** Every evening we watched the sun dip below the horizon while the sea turned shades of orange and pink. The view from the balcony is truly unforgettable. ### 6. Final Thoughts Overall, we could not have asked for a better place to stay during our six‑month stay in the Algarve. The house met all our expectations and more; the service was friendly and professional; the location was perfect for exploring the coast and the nearby towns; and the view from the balcony was simply breathtaking. We highly recommend this holiday home to anyone looking for a comfortable, well‑located and tranquil place to stay in the Algarve. **Rating:** ★★★★★ (5/5) **Signed:** Remco & Gertrude --- *Note: The translation preserves the original structure and details while adapting idiomatic expressions for an English‑speaking audience.*
