Winter sun holiday in the Eastern Algarve
Did you know that the eastern Algarve, in southern Portugal, has the highest number of sunshine hours in the winter?
We ourselves have beautiful memories of the winters in the Algarve. Breakfasting in the sun around 10 o'clock and going back inside around half past four when the sun sets. Then it really gets colder and it's more comfortable inside.
Even in these months, we enjoy having lunch on the various terraces in Olhão, Fuseta, Tavira, or in our own little village of Moncarapacho. It's lovely to sit outside in the sunshine; a thick sweater is definitely not needed!
There are also many other tourists during this time of year who enjoy the delightful temperature and the cozy bustle in the restaurants and shops.

The weather
Yes, of course it rains sometimes. Good for replenishing the water supply in Portugal and our Mediterranean garden. And for the evening and the morning you really do need a sweater or jacket, it cools down considerably.
We haven't worn a coat ourselves during the day, but we have worn many layers. When the sun starts shining you can at least take off some layers! Read here about the 12 months of weather in the Algarve.
When it's a bit less sunny, you have large shopping malls in the area. But also many nice restaurants where you can enjoy delicious Portuguese dishes, as well as tapas, Chinese or sushi. It's all there. Taking a lovely walk by the sea is another great option!
And of course, you can participate in the various activities here in the area. Think of yoga, painting classes, Portuguese lessons, gym, hiking trips, golf, swimming. You can also find plenty of wellness here. Enjoy a wonderful massage, facial treatment, or get your nails done in our village. We'd be happy to make an appointment for you!

Dutch club Algarve
The NCA, or Dutch Club Algarve, offers Dutch-speaking members and non-members a variety of activities throughout the Algarve. These range from coffee mornings, (architectural) city tours, beautifully organized walks, creative workshops, drinks in the most beautiful places, and much more.
You can participate in this for a small fee or become a member. You can follow them, among others, on the Facebook page of the NCA and their website Dutch Club Algarve .
