Our small-scale and comfortable Boutique Guesthouse-Moncarapacho consists of three luxurious self-catering rental suites, a shared pool, and not to forget, just under 8 kilometers away, the Atlantic Ocean with a beautiful beach!Our guesthouse is located just outside the village of Moncarapacho, in the east of the Algarve, in  Portugal. Moncarapacho has approximately 8000 inhabitants. It is located about 25 kilometers from Faro airport and 50 km from the Spanish border. And only a 2-hour drive to Seville in Spain and 3 hours to Lisbon! The typical Portuguese surroundings, such as the orange and olive trees, the little markets, the old villages, and of course the sea, less than 10 kilometers away, complete the holiday feeling.The diverse islets off the coast have beautiful beaches and can be reached by taxi boats. Hiking, birdwatching, golfing, mountain biking, surfing, paddleboarding, sailing, swimming, a range of activities to do.Relaxing by the pool or on your own terrace is, of course, also wonderful! Speaking of relaxing. Our Guesthouse is situated in a rural setting at a rustic spot on a sandy road - just outside our village Moncarapacho - with views of the Atlantic Ocean and the fishing village Fuseta, nature reserve "Ria Formosa" and the olive grove of our neighbors.  The supermarket for delicious sandwiches and basic necessities is a kilometer away. And in the village there is even a large Intermarche.Opposite is the market hall where the Portuguese still buy their fresh fruit, vegetables and fish every morning. There is also a pharmacy, a drugstore, a bank with an ATM, a hairdresser and a souvenir shop.In the center of the village of Moncarapacho is the church and a small square with nice restaurants. Open every day but not all on Sunday.Sunday is truly a family day when parents, grandparents, and children come together and have lunch. For example, visits to the various golf courses or excursions to the hills in the hinterland, authentic villages, historic towns, nature parks, the sea and numerous beaches.In the hinterland are the hills, picturesque villages and a large number of hiking trails. The various islets off the coast have beautiful beaches and can be reached by taxi boats.The typical Portuguese surroundings, such as the orange and olive trees, the little markets, the old villages, and of course the sea 8 kilometers away, complete the holiday feeling.Beautiful towns and charming villagesThe villages and towns   Fuseta, Olhao and Tavira are located directly by the sea, where we can be found almost weekly. Each village has its own charm, atmosphere and range of restaurants and shops. What they have in common is that fresh vegetables, fruit and fish are sold daily in the covered market halls. Loule and VRSA are also nice to visit.    Every Sunday morning, one of the villages hosts a large (gypsy) market. In Moncarapacho, this takes place on the first Sunday of the month. Here, you can of course find local vegetables, fruit, plants, clothing, and honey.But for us and for many Portuguese people, it is also a place to enjoy a good coffee, eat a chicken dish, and meet many acquaintances!Food and drinkRestaurants can be found everywhere, from a delicious Portuguese daily dish to a refined menu. Of course, many fish restaurants but also vegan/vegetarian dishes, sushi, Italian, Chinese, Indian food.Photo: Breakfast at the chic harbour of Vilamoura in MarchBeaches in the areaThe various islands off the coast have beautiful beaches on the Atlantic Ocean and can be reached by taxi boats or ferry. The main islands in the immediate area are Ilha de Fuseta, Ilha Armona and Farol-Culatra, Ilha de Tavira, and Ilha de Faro.In the small fishing village of Fuseta, there is an inland beach with sun loungers and parasols, and a great restaurant, Borda d'Aqua. This beach is wheelchair accessible and is also very suitable for families with small children.Natural Area Ria FormosaWhen you think of the Algarve, you picture sun, sea and beach. But there's more! In the eastern part of the Algarve, between Faro and Tavira, there is a 60-kilometer-long belt of islands and peninsulas with a lagoon behind them.Our village Moncarapacho is located near this protected nature reserve Ria Formosa. From our plot we look out over the fishing village Fuseta, the Atlantic Ocean and this unique lagoon.Seahorses, dolphins, flamingos, chameleons, and migratory birds can be spotted in the sunny Algarve. This entire nature reserve of Ria Formosa also consists of sandbanks, salt pans, marshes, white beaches, and dunes with plants and animals. You can actually compare it to our Wadden Sea area.Golf CoursesIn the immediate area you will find beautiful golf courses.
