The historic town of Tavira

This beautiful town is located less than a 17-minute drive from our Boutique Guesthouse-Moncarapacho and about 20 kilometers from the Spanish border. 

Due to its location along the Gilão River, Tavira is also known as the Venice of the Algarve.

The beautiful Roman Bridge, which connects the two districts of Tavira, can be seen in almost every photo.

As in every town and village here, there is a large market hall where fresh catch fish is sold. There are also lovely boutiques and restaurants in the cozy streets of Tavira.

By ferry, you can easily reach the nearby island of Ilha de Tavira. It is precisely the mix of culture and a beautiful beach that attracts many tourists to Tavira.
