When we want to show friends around here, the Beach of Barril has become a fixed part, about a fifteen-minute drive from us.

Our Guesthouse-Moncarapacho overlooks the nature reserve Ria Formosa. A kind of Wadden area 60 kilometers long!

Almost all the wide and beautiful beaches on the Atlantic Ocean, here in the Eastern Algarve, can be reached by ferry/fast water taxi or via a bridge.

To get to the Beach of Barril, you first cross a small bridge, then take a train or walk. At the end of the beautiful route lies a wonderful, wide and peaceful beach, a few restaurants, shops, and in the dunes, an anchor cemetery and of course, the Atlantic Ocean.
