Celebrating holidays in winter
Did you know that the east Algarve, in southern Portugal, has the highest number of sunshine hours in winter?
We ourselves have fond memories of winter in the Algarve. Around 10 a.m. we have breakfast in the sunshine and return inside around 4:30 when the sun sets. Then it really gets colder and it becomes cozier indoors.
We also enjoy lunch on the various terraces in Olhao, Fuseta, Tavira or in our own village Moncarapacho during these months. Pleasant outside in the sunshine, a thick sweater is really not needed!
There are also many other tourists during this time of year who enjoy the pleasant temperature and the lively bustle in restaurants and shops.

The weather
Yes, of course it does rain sometimes. Good for replenishing the water supply in Portugal and our Mediterranean garden. And for the evening and morning you really need a sweater or coat, it cools down sharply.
We don't really have a coat during the day, just many layers. When the sun starts to shine you can at least take off some layers! Read here about the 12 months weather in the Algarve.
When it is a bit less sunny, there are large shopping malls in the area. But also many nice restaurants where you can also enjoy delicious Portuguese dishes, as well as tapas, Chinese or sushi. It's all there. A nice walk along the sea is another good option!
And of course you can participate in the various activities here in the area. Think of yoga, painting courses, Portuguese lessons, gym, walking trips, golf, swimming. Wellness is also plentiful here. A lovely massage, facial treatment or having your nails done in our village. We are happy to arrange an appointment for you!

Casa Pauline en Casa Florine
Our accommodations are luxuriously and cozily furnished and are comfortable thanks to underfloor heating. In Casa Pauline there is also a wood stove present and it is lovely to spend time there when it is colder. On the terrace, and especially out of the wind, you can lie comfortably on your sunbed in the sun.
Netherlands Club Algarve
The NCA, or Dutch Club Algarve, offers Dutch-speaking members and non-members a variety of activities throughout the Algarve. These range from coffee mornings, (architectural) tours of the city, beautiful organized walks, creative workshops, drinks at the most beautiful places and much more.
You can participate in this for a small fee or become a member. On the NCA's Facebook page and their website Dutch Club Algarve you can follow them.

Remote work
Our accommodations are also suitable for working remotely during the winter months remote work. We provide a good office chair, lighting and of course a good internet connection.
