The marina and seaside resort of Vilamoura

The seaside resort of Vilamoura is a half-hour drive from our Boutique Hotel Guesthouse-Moncarapacho. It's a purpose-built resort and marina, created by a wealthy Lisbon banker. Vilamoura is surrounded by beautiful beaches and golf courses.

We don't experience this "splendor and grandeur" and "see and be seen" in the eastern Algarve. Our guesthouse is nestled in a nature reserve and in the countryside with simple farming villages.

But how nice is it to visit the luxurious Vilamoura and have a drink at the harbour, have lunch and visit the many shops.

You'll be amazed! You don't even need to speak Portuguese, by the way; the main language is pretty much English.

That's what I love about the Algarve. In just a short time, you're transported to a completely different world, and you quickly feel right at home again!
