Did you know that the east Algarve, in southern Portugal, has the highest number of sunshine hours in winter?
We have fond memories of winters in the Algarve. Around 10 a.m., we enjoy breakfast in the sunshine, and by 4:30 p.m., we head back inside as the sun sets. It does get colder then, and being indoors is more comfortable.
Even during these months, we love to lunch at the various terraces in Olhão, Fuseta, Tavira, or in our own village of Moncarapacho. You can enjoy the sunshine outdoors without needing a thick sweater!
There are also many other tourists during this time of year who come to enjoy the delightful temperature and the cozy bustle in restaurants and shops.

The Weather
Yes, it does rain sometimes, which is good for replenishing Portugal's water supply and our Mediterranean garden. You will need a sweater or jacket for the evenings and mornings as it can get quite cool.
We haven't needed jackets during the day yet, but we do wear layers. When the sun comes out, you can always remove a few layers! Read about the 12 months of weather in the Algarve.
On less sunny days, you can visit large shopping malls nearby. There are also many lovely restaurants where you can enjoy delicious Portuguese dishes, as well as tapas, Chinese food, or sushi. It's all there! A nice walk by the sea is another great option.
You can also participate in various activities in the area, such as yoga, painting classes, Portuguese lessons, gym workouts, walking trips, golf, swimming, and wellness treatments like massages, facials, or nail services in our village. We'd be happy to make an appointment for you!

Winter Sun Vacations

Dutch Club Algarve
The NCA (Nederlandse Club Algarve) offers Dutch-speaking members and non-members a variety of activities throughout the Algarve, including coffee mornings, (architectural) city tours, organized walks, creative workshops, drinks in beautiful locations, and much more.
